OVEREXTENSION CONSTRUCTION ACCIDENT


From working regular hours to overtime as a construction worker, the strenuous nature of the job makes it easy to overextend and injure yourself. When you’re overworked without ample time for rest, food, and hydration, injuries and accidents happen. These self-inflicted injuries or accidents can happen after being in a position too long or by normal motion like walking, twisting, reaching, climbing, etc. 

Overextension prevention 

In order to adequately protect yourself on the job, take these precautions.

  • Stretch before and after your shift.
  • Whenever possible, sit instead of squatting or kneeling.
  • Take your breaks; hydrate, eat, and sit down.
  • Avoid carrying heavy objects while climbing.

REPETITIVE MOTION INJURIES

Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) are common in construction workers whose job functions are generally repetitive, like shoveling, digging, sanding, or painting, resulting in:

  • Straining joints
  • Knee injuries
  • Back and neck injuries
  • Shoulder injuries
  • Sprains and strains 

COMPENSATION AFTER AN OVEREXTENSION ACCIDENT
